Residential Treatment Center (RTC)

Residential Treatment CenterSix residences and a diagnostic unit perch atop a hill at Vanderheyden Hall's RTC in Wynantskill, providing a panoramic vista of mountains and sky.

Many of the teen residents who call the RTC home have experienced trauma: sexual, physical, emotional, betrayal of trust. At Vanderheyden's RTC they begin to face their past and forge a new path toward a successful future. In the meantime, each attends Vanderheyden's Campus School and lives in a house with nine teens. Each learns invaluable life skills and responsibilities through cooperative living - household chores, grocery shopping, and preparing meals.

Clinical therapy includes individual, group, family, and adventure counseling. An individual treatment plan is developed for each youth, working as an interdisciplinary team - residential, clinical, and educational - to set goals and respond to the needs of each individual.
