For children with
developmental disabilities and emotional disturbances, the special needs and
levels of care may tax families beyond their means.
Vanderheyden Hall offers a residential program,
community residences, and transitional living opportunities.
The residential program offers a chance for children and young people with
developmental and emotional needs to live in specially equipped homes and
enjoy the care of staff specially trained to help each child develop to his
fullest potential, while his family remains actively involved in his life.
Vanderheyden
Hall's Bessey Home is an exceptional Community residence that provides a
structured therapeutic home while working with each child's unique needs.
This co-ed program encourages youth to attend community schools and access
support services while participating in neighborhood life.
Transitional
living opportunities are also an important part of
Vanderheyden's Community
Residential Program. Group homes for boys and girls offer structure and
therapeutic support in the community.
While attending public schools, residents
are encouraged to get
involved in
after school activities or employment.
Supervised independent living apartments
offer older teens a final step toward
independence when family support is not
available. While youths attend their final
years of high school, they know that Vanderheyden is there
for them when they need guidance and support.
